World Ozone Day Observation at Kaliapani Chromite Mines
On 16th September 2025, Balasore Alloys Limited (BAL) marked World Ozone Day at our Kaliapani Chromite Mines, Jajpur, Odisha, in alignment with directives from the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC). This global occasion served as a vital reminder of the importance of protecting the ozone layer and advancing sustainable practices within the mining and metals industry.
The program, conducted under the theme “From Science to Global Action,” featured awareness sessions and discussions that engaged employees, staff, and workers at our mine offices and COB Plant. The sessions focused on:

Phasing out ozone-depleting substances (ODS) in compliance with international protocols.

Encouraging adoption of alternative and sustainable technologies within mining and metallurgical operations.

Promoting the use of ozone-friendly products across industrial and domestic applications.

Emphasizing the proper maintenance of cooling and refrigeration equipment to minimize emissions.
