More than Hundred participated in Balasore Alloys blood donation camp

To promote blood donation amongst citizen of Balasore, Balasore Alloys Ltd, a part of Ispat Group and pioneer of Odisha’s ferroalloy business, has initiated the Blood Donation camp by its employees at its plant in Balgopalpur on Tuesday. All total 111 employees donated blood in this camp.

The blood donation camp was inaugurated by Mr Sudhir Mangaraj, President, Ispat Alloys Employees Union.   Mr. Anil Sureka, MD of the Company, Dr. Kailas Chapatwala, Group Director HR and HR Strategy, Mr S V Bhabani Varma, Vice President (Operation) and Mr Ashok Tripathi, General Manager (IR) and other dignitaries along with  employees were present during the camp. The blood donation camp has been organized by the company regularly.

The blood donation camp was organized to reach out to the thalassemia and accident patients who are facing lot of trouble in getting blood from the Red Cross blood bank during summer. It was observed during the discussion with the Red Cross blood bank officials, there was a shortage of blood during summer as most forthcoming blood donation camps do not happen during summer. There are nearly 300 thalassemia patients in Balasore district. For these patients, the summer is usually a torrid time as there is shortage of good blood.

While applauding the effort, Mr S V Bhabani Varma, Vice President Operation, Balasore Alloys Ltd said, “We have always been in the forefront of social and developmental activities and this effort from our employees would create a vibe in Balasore to come forward during this time of need and provide more and more blood to the Red Cross to serve the needy people effectively.”

“With people coming out for this social cause, the plight of thalassemia and accident affected persons would come to an end,” Mr Varma added.
